Pat and MaryLouise Bowe commit $1M to TAPA’s new Center for the Performing Arts

The Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts gratefully announces a $1M donation from Pat and MaryLouise Bowe. Their donation will support TAPA’s relocation and remodel of the historic Masonic Temple, adjacent to the Stranahan Theater, in Toledo, for its new Center for the Performing Arts. Pat Bowe has dedicated seven years of service to the TAPA Board of Directors, during which time he notably assumed the role of Chairman from 2020 to 2022 and continues to serve on the board.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi In Concert to Feature Iconic Score Performed Live to Film

The Toledo Symphony Orchestra, a part of the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA), will present Star Wars: Return of the Jedi In Concert featuring a screening of the complete film with Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score performed live to the film. The concert will be led by acclaimed conductor Ron Spigelman on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 7PM at the Stranahan Theater. TAPA to Receive $20,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts is proud to announce they have been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000. This grant will support upcoming performances of The Planets: The Orchestra’s Guide to the Galaxy in partnership with ADJ•ective New Music and KV 265. In total, the NEA will award 958 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $27.1 million that were announced as part of its first round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

Grammy Award Winner Common to Perform with Toledo Symphony

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced that Academy Award, Emmy, and Grammy-winner Common will perform with the Toledo Symphony on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle Theater. This one-night-only event will showcase the many facets of Common’s 30-year career as a hip-hop musician, poet, and activist. Joined by the Toledo Symphony, Common performs a wide-ranging setlist including the Grammy-award winning “Love of my Life” and the Academy-Award winning “Glory” from Selma.

The Toledo Symphony and Toledo Symphony League are pleased to announce winners of the 2023 Toledo Symphony League Young Artist Competition. The Young Artist Competition is a professionally judged contest which offers the opportunity for young musicians to audition for a monetary award provided by the Toledo Symphony League and an opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.

Yark Automotive Group to Present School Performance of Toledo Ballet’s 83rd Annual Production of The Nutcracker

The Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is pleased to announce Community Partner Yark Automotive as the presenting sponsor for the student performance of Toledo Ballet’s 83rd annual production of The Nutcracker. This sold-out performance takes place on Friday morning, December 8 at the Stranahan Theater with over 2,000 students from greater Toledo in attendance.

Community Leaders to Perform as Mother Ginger in Toledo Ballet’s 83rd Production of The Nutcracker

Toledo Ballet is excited to announce 4 community leaders who will perform the role of Mother Ginger in Toledo Ballet’s 83rd annual production of The Nutcracker. Shaun E. Graham, Assistant General Counsel at Marathon Petroleum Company LP will perform during the sold-out school performance presented by Yark Automotive on Friday, December 8 at 10:30am. Andrew Newby, CEO and Co-Founder of The Toledo Spirits Company and HEAVY Beer Company, will perform on Saturday, December 9 at 2pm. Michael Ellison, Ph.D, Associate Professor Emeritus from Bowling Green State University will perform on Saturday, December 9 at 7pm. Patrick E. Bowe, President & CEO of The Andersons, will perform on Sunday, December 10 at 2pm. Saturday and Sunday’s performances are presented by Fifth Third Bank.

Toledo Ballet is thrilled to announce that this year’s production of The Nutcracker will feature esteemed Houston Ballet Principal Dancers Yuriko Kajiya and Connor Walsh in the iconic roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and Cavalier. Three public performances presented by Fifth Third Bank take place on December 9 (2pm and 7pm) and 10 (2pm) and a student performance presented by Yark Automotive takes place on Friday, December 8 (10:30am).
