Position Overview 
The Live Arts Discovery Internship is a paid, early-career opportunity for emerging dance educators to lead creative movement classes for children and young adults in underserved communities. Interns will receive training and mentorship to develop their own classes, create original curriculum, and adapt activities to a variety of learning environments. 

We strongly encourage individuals who identify as underrepresented in the arts—including people of color, individuals with disabilities, first-generation artists, and those from economically marginalized communities—to apply. 

Responsibilities:    

  • Lead movement and dance classes in schools and community settings 
  • Create and implement original, age-appropriate dance curriculum 
  • Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learners and community spaces
  • Participate in training sessions focused on class leadership, curriculum development, and inclusive teaching practices
  • Serve as a positive and professional representative of Live Arts Toledo

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience teaching dance (formal or informal settings welcome)
  • Interest in community-based arts education and working with underserved populations 
  • Reliable transportation required  
  • Availability for required training sessions, Live Arts Discovery Week, and program dates
We value lived experience, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. Applicants do not need to meet every qualification to be considered. 

Time Commitment:

  • 40 paid hours during the project period
  • Up to 20 additional optional paid hours available 

Compensation & Benefits

  • $15 per hour 
  • Optional additional hours focused on learning arts administration beyond education, supporting long-term career development
