Concert Strings Conductor

Betsy Cranston is in her eighteenth year as a teacher in Perrysburg Schools, where she began her career. Betsy is an orchestra director for students in grades 5-8. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she also serves as the Perrysburg Junior High Music Department Head and chair of the OMEA District 1 Junior High Honors Orchestra. Betsy is also the conductor for the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra Concert Strings. She earned her undergraduate degree in music education from The Ohio State University and received her graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Toledo. A cellist, Betsy is a founding member of The Asteria String Quartet and performs regularly around Toledo and the surrounding area. Betsy is honored to share the talents of her students with OMEA and credits Perrysburg Schools’ outstanding music educators, supportive administration, and dedicated families for the district’s accomplishments in music education. She resides in Toledo with her daughters Layla and Lydia. She joyfully lives life with them as a Suzuki parent and soccer and softball coach.
