Johan Mancebo was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and began his dance training in 2006. He became a part of the inaugural class of male dancers to graduate from the National School of Ballet of the Dominican Republic in 2015. During his training from 2013 to 2015, Johan secured an apprenticeship with the Dominican National Ballet. In November 2014, he was invited to perform Septime Webre's "Alice in Wonderland" with CODA21 in Puerto Rico, and shortly thereafter, in January 2015, he joined The Washington Ballet Studio Company, also under Webre's direction. Johan has since danced with prestigious companies such as Ballet de Cámara de Madrid and Sibiu Ballet Theater in Romania. In 2023, he joined the Cleveland Ballet, where he has taken on soloist and principal roles, including Don José in "Gladisa," Jean de Brienne in "Raymonda," the Cavalier in "The Nutcracker," and both Raven and Bluebird in "The Sleeping Beauty," among many other notable performances.
