Layla Martinez is thrilled to be making her debut with the Toledo Symphony. A 7th grade student at Ottawa Hills Junior Senior High School, she has been studying voice for 3 years under the direction of Jane Atwood. She is a proud member of the Junior Chorale at school, and her favorite previous roles in school productions include Medda in Newsies Jr. and Pearl in SpongeBob the Musical Jr. She has enjoyed performing in the Children’s Chorus with the Toledo Opera in Carmen and Tosca. When she isn't practicing her scales, Layla enjoys basketball, volleyball and spending time with her family, friends and three cats. She would like to thank her family, friends and teachers for their constant support!
