Tomer Marcus joined the Toledo Symphony in January 2023. Before his appointment to the symphony, he was a member of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and other previous orchestral positions include the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Orchestra Iowa.
A native of Israel, he earned his bachelor's degree from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he won the concerto competition in 2010. His Master's degree is from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He studied with Chaim Taub, Simon Fischer, Ludmila Feldman, Roi Shiloah, Noam Schuss and Ella Dickerman.
Tomer has played as a soloist with orchestras in the United States and Israel, including the Chicago Sinfonietta, Quad City Symphony, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, Haifa Symphony, Israel Chamber Orchestra and Sinfonietta Beer Sheva. His solo performances were under the baton of Shlomo Mintz, Mei-Ann Chen, Mark Russell Smith, Yoni Farhi and Doron Salomon.
Tomer has also been active as an educator of music enhancement programs in various public schools, teaching young children the basics of music playing and listening, and expanding music outreach to underserved communities.
