William McDevitt has been playing bass for over 40 years. He started violin at the age of 10 and a year later switched to bass. He started private lessons with Henry Loew, former principal bassist of the St. Louis Symphony. Mr. McDevitt graduated Indiana University in 1996 and then went on to play with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. It was 1999 when he had joined the Toledo Symphony. He began composing at 13 years old and still continues to write music. The Toledo Symphony has performed several pieces written by him. In 2021, Mr. McDevitt graduated from University of Toledo with a Masters in Music Education and currently teaches at Bedford Public Schools in Michigan.
