Michael Daugherty: Cadillac Ranch
Gershwin, Williams, and Daugherty paint wildly different portraits of American experience-each unmistakably connected to our culture. An American in Paris struts through the streets, jazz-inflected and rhythm-driven. Noah Bendix-Balgley, concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, performs a Klezmer-infused violin showstopper orchestrated by renowned composer Samuel Adler. Adventures on Earth captures the childlike wonder of discovery, lifted by John Williams' peerless sense of cinematic storytelling, and Cadillac Ranch takes us to a quirky Texas roadside landmark.
The Toledo Symphony’s concerts in celebration of America’s 250th are presented by the Rita Barbour Kern Foundation.
