Internationally celebrated violinist Joshua Bell returns to Toledo for a program devoted entirely to Beethoven as the orchestra marks the 200th anniversary of the composer’s death. Bell performs Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, a work known for its long singing lines and moments of quiet reflection. The program begins with Drei Equali, written by Beethoven for four trombones and later performed at his funeral in 1827. It concludes with his Symphony No. 3, the “Eroica,” a work that reshaped the possibilities of the symphony and signaled a new era in orchestral music.
